Performance:                                                                                                              In three villages in Jutland, Fjaltring, Ryde, Asp, 2014,  communal action painting was created by physical activity. The citizens of  three towns were invited to create a series of paintings and join a unifying physical experience. While listening to music, they are encouraged to step into paint and record their body movements and gestures with pigment.  My role as the artist was to gently choreograph the movements of participants to form a cohesive, graphic structure.

Performance Process:

Shoes of various sizes and types are placed on the floor around the circular wood board. As participants enter the workspace, they put on the available shoes and ‘load’ them by stepping into palettes of paint.  With music playing, they step onto the wood board surface and are asked to walk, run and dance. The footsteps of participants create vivid patterns, prints and textures on the boards, which I will regulate with paper stencils. In this way I can target paint to specific areas and control the graphics, thus encouraging certain patterns and colors emerge. The end result will be a series of vivid, graphic paintings, created by the footsteps and actions of the participants, and facilitated by my guidance.
